What Community is

Community is a free space where Coteau members post short, plain-text notes about stocks and our models. Posts are each member's own opinion. They are not Coteau's views, research or advice, and Coteau doesn't check them for accuracy. Coteau is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, doesn't manage money and doesn't recommend buying or selling any security. Nothing posted here is a recommendation, and no Coteau staff post is ever a recommendation either. Do your own research and consider a licensed professional for personal advice.

Who can post

• You must be 18 or older and have a member account. Posting is free; there are no ads.
• You pick a display name. Your email is never shown. Don't use a name that impersonates another person, a company, a regulator or Coteau.

Not allowed

• Market manipulation. No pump-and-dump, coordinated buying or selling, false or misleading claims about a security, or spreading rumors as fact.
• Posing as an adviser or paid promotion. No personalized investment advice for pay, no signal groups, and no promoting a security, product or service you're paid for or hold a stake in to promote. If you have a material interest (a job at the company, compensation), say so plainly.
• Spam and scams. No repeated posts, referral or promo codes, giveaways, airdrops, or invitations to off-site chats.
• Personal information. Never post anyone's email, phone number, address, account details or other private information, including your own.
• Impersonation, harassment and hate. No impersonating people or organizations, threats, harassment or hateful content.
• Bots and automated accounts. Every account must be run by one real person typing their own posts. No bots, scripts, scheduled or auto-posting tools, or accounts run on someone else's behalf.
• Undisclosed AI-generated posts. Don't post text written by an AI tool as if it were your own. If AI helped write a post, say so in the post (for example "AI-assisted"), and you're still responsible for it.
• Fake people and multiple accounts. One account per person. No fake identities, sock-puppet or alternate accounts, buying or selling accounts, or using several accounts to boost, like or defend your own posts.
• Illegal content or someone else's work. No illegal content, material non-public information, or content that infringes copyright or trademarks.

How moderation works

• Posts are plain text up to 500 characters with up to 5 $TICKER tags. Links aren't clickable.
• An automatic filter holds posts with personal information, promotional or off-site-chat wording, or (for newer members) links, until a moderator reviews them.
• Rate limits apply to posting, likes and reports. New accounts can post a few times in their first day, and their links wait for review.
• Posts that look automated, copy-pasted from elsewhere or from another account, AI-generated without saying so, or promotional (link shorteners, several links, piles of $TICKER tags, hype wording) are held for a moderator. A held post is not a penalty: a person reviews it and either publishes or removes it.
• Sign-up and posting use automatic checks against bots and throwaway email addresses.
• Anyone signed in can report a post or block a member. A post reported by several members is hidden until reviewed.
• Moderators can hide or delete posts and suspend accounts that break these rules, at their discretion and without notice.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting you give Coteau a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on Coteau's site and apps. You can delete your own posts at any time, and deleting your account removes your posts, likes and profile. We keep posts in our database and its backups only as long as needed to run and protect the service.

Takedowns and contact

To report content that infringes your copyright or another legal right, or for any other request, email desk@coteau.app with the post link, the work or right concerned, your contact details and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized. We'll review it and remove content where appropriate.
